Edward McGinty

U.S. Veteran

Retired USAF Col. Edward Stanley "Ed" McGinty, 79, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 13, 1932, in Camden, N.J., died on Monday, June 25, 2012.

Col. McGinty served in Administration for the U.S. Air Force and was on the Inspector General Team. He served in the Vietnam Conflict and retired after 26 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed traveling the world while serving in the military as well as the traveling he was able to do after retiring with his special friend, Patty Jane. Ed was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill. Mr. McGinty was a former police board member for the Troy Police Department and he loved photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence, nee Bush, McGinty.

Surviving are his special friend, Patty Garcia of Centralia, Ill. Patty's family was his family and includes her brother, Bailey (Joyce) Fulton of Arcola, Ill.; sister, Ava Nell Aloffo of Carterville, Ill.; nephews, Alex (Donna) Fulton of Lenexa, Kan., Joe Fulton of Centralia, Ill., and his friend, Carol Rank of Smithton, Ill., Joe Aloffo Jr., and his friend, Linda Overturf of Cambria, Ill., Anthony (Sharon) Aloffo of Carterville, Ill., Greg (Jean) Fulton of Arcola, Ill., Brian Fulton of White Heath, Ill., and Tim (Denise) Fulton of Champaign, Ill.; nieces, Liz (Ron) Edwards of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Barbara (David) Dimmock of Me-thuen, Mass.; great-nieces and great-nephews, Bailey and Maggie Fulton, Mike, Jeff and Greg Edwards, Lindsay Shaw, Sarah Fulton, Shawn, Joshua and Zachary Fulton, Billy Fulton, Traci Kruckemeyer, Scott and Ryan Aloffo, Jordan Aloffo and Alex Dimmock; special friends, Louise Silger, Dallas and Judy Douglas and Dick Travis, all of Centralia, Ill., and Antonette Allsopp of Herrin, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jerome Catholic Church Cemetery Fund.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at the funeral home with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Interment with full military honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
